LINX Client: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Location: Denver, CO

Reflecting a Mission:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s main goal for this project was to demonstrate “the viability of sustainable designs and features in a high performance structure”.  LINX proudly supports this mission because we are dedicated to providing the best in high performance technology to our customers to meet the needs of every unique project.

Account Overview & Scope:

At the new Lower Downtown Denver EPA location, LINX installed copper connectivity for over 1200 locations consisting of two cables per location.  Lan- Mark 1000 Category 6 cable was utilized to give the EPA a “future proof” network infrastructure to compliment the building’s green–built, high performance concept.  LINX finished this 8 floor project on budget, meeting every project schedule milestone on time.  In addition to the voice and data infrastructure, LINX installed 54 Wireless Access Point locations and a “Neutral Host” coaxial cable throughout the entire facility.

To provide network connectivity between the IT closets; LINX installed 2200 ft of 12 strand single-mode fiber terminated on LC connectors.  Each segment of fiber was tested bidirectionally at the 850nm and 1300nm windows.  The facility’s raised floor environment and cable pathways are utilized to service each station.  Prior to installation, LINX carefully laid out the cable pathways to ensure there were no electrical or HVAC interferences under the floor.  The quality workmanship of LINX installers at the facility is evident in the aesthetically- pleasing finished terminations which consistently meet industry standards and ensure proper bend radius and support.  LINX utilized Velcro tie wraps in order to reflect the project's focus on reusable features that allow for maximum future flexibility.

Project Managment :

When our key contact at the EPA fell ill during the project's execution, our LINX team did what was necessary to complete the project on time and to the highest standards of quality.  We worked closely with the EPA and its staff to strategically design an effective layout for racks and equipment in the IT closets– ultimately leading to a more efficient work environment and making future moves, adds and changes less complicated.
