LINX Client: Memorial Health System- Memorial Hospitals

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

"Most Wired" Hospitals:

Memorial Health System and its affiliated hospitals were recently named in the July 2007 issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine as one of the “Most Wired” hospitals in the nation.  This survey of hospitals names hospitals as “Most Wired” if they exemplify the use of “technology and integrated networks to improve treatment outcomes and make care safer and more streamlined for both patients and clinicians”.

Account Overview & Scope:

Memorial Hosptial Central:

The Memorial Hospital South project presented LINX with the opportunity to combine the latest technologies in network cabling, security, audiovisual, wireless and nurse call as part of the hospital’s new design and renovation.  LINX installed over 800 voice/data locations, approximately 300 Biomed/data locations, nearly 200 wall phones and over 120 Wireless access points throughout the hospital.

LINX installed new copper and fiber backbone systems, and rack-mounts in each Telecom Room.  Each of the 200+ rooms were outfitted with CATV installed television locations and nearly 70 CCTV camera locations were installed as part of the security system.  To provide an overhead paging application, LINX provided and installed an 18AWG 2-conductor cable to each speaker location.

Memorial North Hosptial:

Like many new hospitals today, the Memorial North Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO illustrates the health industry’s strong commitment to using information technology to improve patient care.  LINX played an important role in implementing new network infrastructure and audiovisual, wireless, security and nurse call systems to improve each clinician’s ability to connect with and provide the best possible care to each patient.

LINX focused on providing the highest quality installation of approximately 900 voice/data locations, 200 biomed/data locations, 200 wireless access points and 150 CATV television locations throughout the hospital.  LINX designed and installed a complete fiber and copper backbone throughout the facility and an under floor cable tray throughout the data center. The cable testing procedures (using a Fluke DTX 1800 Cable Analyzer—level IV tester) utilized the most up-to-date specifications and testing was documented to ensure actual performance was consistent with product specifications and achieved maximum efficiency.
Planning for the Future:

The integration of multiple technologies and the importance of protecting confidential patient information at both Memorial Hospital Campuses required LINX to install a reliable and adaptable network infrastructure and data center to meet the present and future needs of each hospital.
