The Progressive Data Center in Colorado Springs, CO is the largest and most sophisticated data center ever built in the Colorado Springs area. The Facility is 175,000 square-feet and houses more than 700 computers.
Account Overview & Scope:
The team of skilled LINX technicians, project managers and designers eagerly rose to meet the challenge to design and implement an entirely new network infrastructure, wireless network and security system at Progressive’s Colorado Springs, CO location. The 175,000 sq. ft. main data center, call center and office areas were outfitted with CAT6 copper and fiber optic cable and backbone to provide connectivity to nearly 1,000 locations. LINX was specifically acknowledged by Progressive for “outstanding cabling installation, project leadership, technical knowledge demeanor and performance“ in successfully executing the project.
The large-scale Progressive data center, call center and connected office facilities offered LINX the unique opportunity to integrate network infrastructure, wireless and security technologies that would be easily adaptable for future additions at the site. As the initial project was completed (including the main data center build-out), local economic development officials predicted that demand for new data centers and data center expansions could double in in five years in Colorado due to growth in the industry.
Should Progressive need to expand the new data center at any point in the future, LINX installations will be easily modified to accommodate any additions or changes. For example, LINX installations are unique in the fact that they feature Velcro-tie wraps to neatly segregate bundles—ultimately minimizing cost and making future changes less complicated. The data center security systems are state-of-the art and were specifically chosen to accommodate Progressive’s interest in using programs that require minimal training and maintenance. The card access and surveillance systems are integrated to CCTV monitoring areas which offer maximum coverage at the Progressive site and require minimal personnel to operate efficiently.
Safeguarding Your Valuable Data:
Progressive was especially concerned with preserving valuable customer and corporate data in the event of power outages and other phenomena at the main data center. To accomplish this, LINX worked closely with the electrical systems contractors to ensure proper grounding and integration with the facility's two generators and other electrical systems to ensure all data would be kept safe.
